MAMBUKAL RESORT, Murcia - Negrense Doanne Stephanie M. Peraren was crowned 2009 Miss Earth Mambukal Queen last Saturday at the Mambukal Resort as part of the major activity of the 13th Mudpack festival.
Deenise Pia A. Gasendo was named Miss Air and 1st runner-up.
Gretchen May E. Villoso was named Ms. Water and 2nd runner-up.
Aisan Dianne G. Boroc was named Ms. Fire and 3rd runner-up and with Carol G. Corcoso as Ms. Metal and 4th runner-up.
There were ten of them who competed for the title.
For the special awards, Villoso was named best in Body Painting, Ms. Flora and Fauna and Best in Swimsuit.
Cony G. Ruiz was named Ms. GSM Blue.
Peraren was named as Ms CALI 10.
Corcoso was named best in Talent.
Jenelyn C. Raynon was named as Ms. Photogenic and Ms. Energy Development Corporation (EDC) Earth.
The Mudpack festival has several competitions such as Body Painting, Clay Sculpture, Mixed-Media Art, Drumbeating, Solo Dance Improvisation, Tribal competitions, Chants and Stunts competition, poster making for kids.
Tribu Ilahas was named grand winner in the Drum beating competition, followed by the Kanadman Drumbeaters being the 2nd runner-up and Jess Tribe, as 3rd runner-up. Patik Minuluan and Tribu Pagla-um received the consolation prizes.
Princess Angie Gardos was the grand winner in the Poster Making Competition for Kids followed by Blanche Adria-tico as 2nd runner-up and June Naries Abellar as 3rd runner-up.
There were 27 of them who participated in the competition.
On the Mixed Media Art competition, Kenneth Po was 1st runner-up; ABS Andrew dela Peña as 2nd runner-up. Those who received the consolation prizes were Mario Española, Teody Nicol, Ro-berto Berondo, Jr., Christopher John Puerta and Hanz Christian Villaluz.
This year’s Mudpack festival was a resounding success as Negrenses and visitors came to Mambukal to be part of the festival, said Ms. Ellen J. Vasquez, Mambukal Resort Manager.
Governor Isidro P. Zayco, Board member Patrick Lacson, Mr. Albee Benitez, Mr. Andrew Montelibano and Hot Babes sensations Andrea del Rosario and Kathia Santos graced the Miss Earth Mambukal pageant.
Visuals and performing artists in the province, models and musicians showed their talents in the field of arts.
There was also a Band concert and dance party Saturday night.
This year’s theme is “Mother Earth...Sanctuary of Life. This festival is celebrated annually which centers on the oneness of Negrenses and Mother Nature, “an opportunity to bring us back to the core and meaning of our humanity and existence.”
Mudpack is a unique event as it centers on the harmony of man and nature. The celebration features Mambukal’s distinct multi-colored clay to stir people’s awareness of the importance of the environment.
It is a festival of Arts and this serves as a venue where artists from all over Negros gather to exhibit their respective artistic talents in ethnic dances, crafts and music.*
